Follow these steps if you have been hurt in any accident. Our team is always a phone call away to offer help and guidance. Please do not wait to call us.
Report The Accident
As soon as the accident occurs, call 911 and ambulance if necessary. If police do not arrive, make sure to visit the local police station to file a police report. If police arrive, speak to them about what happened and allow them to gather evidence to support your case. You must provide the police with factual information without admitting guilt.
Take Plenty of Photos
Take photos and videos of the entire area and damages. Take photos of the scene, the other driver’s license plate, contact information for witnesses, and the injuries you have.
Gather Witness Contact Information
Ask witnesses to provide their names and phone numbers to you. Ask them just in case you have to verify or prove what occurred.
Immediately Seek Medical Attention
Always go to the hospital. Even if you feel okay, some injuries can take a few hours or days before you feel increased pain, including neck and back injuries or a concussion. Going to the emergency room ensures your injuries are documented.
Contact Your Insurance Company
You are responsible for reporting an accident to your insurance company. Importantly, you must provide basic details such as where the accident occurred and who was involved.
Follow The Doctor’s Orders
Do what your doctor says if you’re still experiencing pain. This may include getting necessary tests, completing treatment, and seeing specialists. If you are not feeling better, go back to your doctor, and explain how you feel.
Keep A Record Of Your Expenses
Maintain a log of all your expenses you have after your injury. If you are spending money on medications, copays, or other costs, we can make a claim for your out of pocket costs.
-
In Pennsylvania and New Jersey, you have two years from the date of the accident to take legal action. However, if the injured person is under 18 years old, the deadline or statute of limitations can be delayed. If the injury occurs with a government vehicle or on government property, the delay may be as little as 6 months.
As soon as you suffer injuries, contact Castro Injury Law. Doing this now, before the two year timeframe, protects your right to compensation.
